Stylish Hangers For Your Stylish Wardrobe

Hello out there,

I am sure all of you know these beautiless clothes hangers out of wire which you always get when you pick up your clothes from the dry cleaner's. I have gathered quite a number of those over the last few years and they didn't make my wardrobe any more attractive. Therefore I decided to give them a little makeover and to cover them with remnants I had still left from former sewing projects. That's super easy and the finished hangers make quite an impression... ;)

What you'll need
  • clothes hangers out of wire
  • remnants
  • double-sided tape
  • scissors
  • needle and thread
  • ironing board and iron

How it works

Cut your remnants into stripes (about 5 cm width and 1 m length). Press about 2 cm of one of the stripes' long sides and of both stripes' ends.

Starting with the hook, cover the hangle with double-sided tape.

Wrap the fabric stripes around the hangle and fix the stripes' ends with a few stitches by hand. You'll need about two to three stripes for each hangle.

Done! :)

Have a great Sunday!

Yours,
Tulip

PS: I also added this post to Karly's and Paige's link up party on Karlys's lovely blog "Three in Three - Plus One". :)

Maritime Time

Hello everybody,

recently I was in the mood for a really maritime outfit. Blue and white stripes, anchors (even on my shoes) and a little red - everything's in there and I really like it. :) Perhaps my current (or steady) love for maritime clothes has something to do with the fact that Austria is a land-locked country with no sea far and wide and that living at the seaside has been one of my most long-lasting dreams. Besides, I have really itchy feed right now and am already so much looking forward to my vacation in South Italy some weeks from now...
However, as there is no sea wide and far (at least not near Vienna), Katja and I went to the little river near our workplace to make some nice pictures. :)

Fast and Tasty Egg Spread

Hi folks,

today David and I went to Vienna's third bike picnic at Galopprennbahn Freudenau, an old race track in Vienna. It's a lovely event where one dresses in retro British outfits (for the tweed ride), relaxes on picnic blankets and meanwhile listens to Charleston and Lindy Hop. :)
However, as the name already suggests it's a picnic. Therefore I decided to make a portion of tasty egg spread with curry to take with us on the race track. Here comes the recipe:

What you'll need (for 2 hungry persons)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 spring onions
  • 2 tablespoons curd
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder.
  • salt
How it works

Boil the eggs for about 10 minutes.

Peel the eggs. Cut them and the spring onions into small pieces.

Put the eggs in a bowl, add the curd, the sour cream and the curry powder and mix well. Then add the spring onions.

Put the egg spread on a slice of bread and enjoy! :)

Have a great evening!

Yours,
Tulip

Baroque Garden

Hello everybody,

today Katja and I got the chance to shoot some really nice photos in the beautiful garden of baroque Stift Melk in the lovely Wachau. I'm wearing one of my favourite summer outfits. None of the things are new but I still think that the white dress plus the straw hat and the matching shoes make for a beautiful combination, which I definitely wanted to share with you... ;) Plus I really love the pocket watch necklace! I bought it on a vacation in the U.K. two years ago and it reminds me of the beautiful time I spent there together with David.

2 summer jewellery looks

Hi folks,

greetings from the beautiful island of Brac in Croatia where I spend my first holiday this year :) Today I want to share two different summer jewellery looks with you.
I never leave the house without a nice bracelet and/or a statement ring lately ;-)

This beautiful snake bracelet was more than 25 years ago a gift from my father to my mother. Last year she passed it on to me and I love wearing it. The dress is from Bench.

I love golden jewellery with bright colours like this statement ring that I bought at the grand bazaar in Istanbul last year. The bracelet is from the Spanish label Bimba y Lola - I adore their maritime style - perfect for a day at the beach :) The shorts are from Promod (old).

Lots of love, xxx
Lily

Super-tasty Corn Fritters with Oven-Roasted Tomatoes

Hey you guys,

I hope you all had a beautiful week and an even better weekend so far! :)
I just made the best corn fritters with oven-roasted tomatoes and of course I want to share the recipe with you. I made these fritters for the first time myself and they are really easy to make, you won't need longer than half and hour to prepare them and they simply taste wonderfully. :)

What you'll need
  • (small) tomatoes on the vine
  • 450g canned corn
  • 2 spring onions
  • 3 eggs
  • 100g flour
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 handful of fresh basil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • vegetable oil
  • salad
  • lemon
  • blueberries
  • vinegar

How it works

We start with the oven-roasted tomatoes:
Put the tomatoes into a baking dish. Cut the garlic and the basil in small pieces and give them to the tomatoes. Add salt, pepper and olive oil and roast the tomatoes for about 15 minutes at 180°C in the oven.

For the fritters drain the corn well and put it aside. Whisk the flour and the eggs, then add the corn and the cut spring onions and flavour the mixture with salt and pepper.

Heat up some oil in a pan and fry the fritters (1 tablespoon of the corn mixture per fritter) for 2-3 minutes on both sides until they are golden brown.

As a side dish I decided to make a nice salad with corn salad and blueberries. I simply mixed the salad with the berries and added some salt, pepper, lemon juice, vinegar and oil. Yummy! :)

Enjoy!!

Have a great day!

Yours,
Tulip

PS: If you want to add some protein to the dish I would recommend either chicken or if you want to stay vegetarian fried smoked tofu.

Finnish Summer Style

Hello everybody,

I am really happy that summer has finally arrived in Austria! The weather in the last few days was beautiful (perfect for the holiday weekend) and I really hope it's going to stay like this for a while. In any case the current weather gives me the perfect opportunity to finally get my new summer dress from Muka va (a very cool Finnish label I discovered at the last Modepalast in Vienna) and my new sandals out of my closet and into the sun. The cute, black headband is from Muka va too, you already know it from this post.

Baked Elderflowers with Maple Syrup

Hello everybody,

sorry for the long break, but we had a crazy week at work with this year's season finale (and season finale party ;)...
Today I want to share one of my favourite (sweet) summer recipes with you: baked elderflowers with maple syrup. At this time of the year you can find elderflowers almost everywhere in Austria. I got mine from Steinhofgründe as Katja was so nice pick a bag full for me at one of her evening runs.

What you'll need (for 4 persons)
  • (about 10-12) elderflowers (try to mix bigger and smaller ones)
  • 300ml soy milk (or normal milk)
  • 150g spelt flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup for the dough
  • vegetable oil (I used canola oil but any kind of vegetable oil will do)
  • maple syrup
How it works

Put the elderflowers heads down into a bowl of water for a few minutes and carefully wash the stems. For the dough mix the soy milk, the spelt flour, the baking powder and the maply syrup with an eggbeater. Stir well!

Heat up the oil in a pan. Pull the elderflowers through the dough and put them into the hot pan.
When the dough starts to get solid you can cut of the long green stems of the elderflowers. Flip the elderflowers and bake until both sides are golden brown.

Put the elderflowers on a plate and sweeten then with maply syrup. Done! :)

Have a great day!

Yours,
Tulip

Vegan pancakes with veggies

Hey folks,

today I want to show you an easy & healthy lunch idea: vegan pancakes with vegetables.

Ingredients
Dough:
  • 1 cup spelt flour
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
Vegetables (you can take any veggies you prefer):
  • 1/2 broccoli
  • 1 tomato
  • 4 mushrooms
  • mediterranean herbs
  • salt

In a large bowl, combine all dough ingredients and chop the vegetables.

Heat a large non-stick pan or skillet over medium high heat, and wait to start until pan is nice and hot. Drop the dough into individual pancakes, sized depending on how big you want yours to be! The dough will be thick, but it will spread and cook through as it heats. Once you see bubbles forming on the top surface, it’s time to flip!

In the meantime cook the vegetables in a seperate pan and add the herbs. Flip and cook the dough another minute or so until all of it is cooked through and both sides are evenly browned.

Et voilá! Enjoy your savoury veggie pancake :)
